Press Release Body: MORRISVILLE, N.C. (May 21, 2008)-- RadarFind today announced that its Chief Medical Officer, Vincent N. Carrasco, M.D., will deliver an educational presentation at the AAMI 2008 Conference and Expo to be held from May 31 to June 2 in San Jose, California.
During the AAMI educational session, "If It Moves, Tag It: A Comparative Study of RFID and WI-FI," Dr. Carrasco will review basic information about Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) and how they differ from Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems. He will also present a case study detailing the RTLS implementation at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C. and how the RTLS helped save the hospital more than $300,000 in a short period of time while improving patient care.
"This session will offer insight on why RTLS implementations are critical for hospitals today and how they can improve a hospital's overall clinical efficiency," said Carrasco. "These systems have proven their potential for significantly reducing hospital expenditures while improving quality of care, and this session will explain the differences in current wireless RTLS technologies and the criterion for hospitals choosing the best RTLS solution for their hospital."
Dr. Carrasco is a former tenured professor of surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. As a noted neurotologist, his more than 25 years of health care experience include working as an academic educator, scientist and administrator with extensive communications technology experience in hospital settings. Dr. Carrasco offers a unique hospital perspective from his deep involvement with developing innovative medical device and imaging technology, computerized planning tools, hospital software and IT infrastructure in addition to implementing new patient care delivery systems.
The annual conference for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is the nation's largest gathering of professionals who manage, purchase, and support health care technologies. This year's conference is expected to draw over 1,500 attendees.
About RadarFind Corporation RadarFind Corporation, a health care technology company, offers a unique, patented Real Time Location System (RTLS) that was developed by hospital administrators and doctors after extensive research with more than 50 hospitals across the nation. Unlike other conventional RFID and WiFi location tracking solutions, RadarFind functions independently of a hospital's critical IT network, requires no new wiring in patient areas and can provide room-level accuracy with no need for ongoing calibration.
RadarFind's unique asset tag features a sliding switch that hospital staffs use to mark a piece of medical equipment's status. RadarFind is the only RTLS to provide valuable, accurate three-state information (available, in-use or needs cleaning/sterilization) about a device's status and location history, serving as a powerful tool for medical device management and infection control.
RadarFind will also be demonstrating their innovative Real Time Location System during the AAMI Conference and Expo at Booth #227. The company is headquartered in the greater Raleigh-Durham, N.C. area. For more information please call (919) 228-2100 or visit www.radarfind.com.
